  • People must try to visit Monet's House and Gardens situated to the west of the city. This was a great place to visit and where you get to see his world famous artwork. You can also stroll around his gardens and see the Lily lake, an inspiration for some of his paintings. The best time to visit would be in the spring/summer when all the flowers are coming into bloom.

  • The Palace of Versailles is another place people tend to miss when visiting Paris. This again is situated on the outskirts of the city. The gardens are breathtaking!

Montmartre & Sacré Coeur: The Sacre Coeur is situated at...

  • The Sacre Coeur is situated at Parvis du Sacre Coeur. Having been to Paris twice before this was the first time I had found the Sacre Coeur. This is a truly beautiful place to go and see. The entrance fee is 15F per person. Children under 6 years are FREE. The area around the Sacre Coeur (Montmartre) is also worth visiting as you can see the artist's at work painting the church. The pictures although original and good are very expensive around £150 for a decent size painting.
You will probably be pestered by art sellers trying to paint your portrait but just ignore them and walk away.
The area leading to the Sacre Coeur (the 'Pigalle' - correct me if I am wrong) is a very dodgy area to be in. Be very aware of your bag at all times as there are some pretty shady people that hang about. This is also a very sleazy area of the city with lots of strip clubs and sex shops. The world famous 'Moulin Rouge' is located here.
