"The June Lake Loop" June Lake by Polaris1

This stop on Highway 395 is a chance to exit the mountainous desert ecosystem and enter the unique subalpine meadow ecosystem relatively quickly. These four lakes along this loop, June Lake, Grant Lake, Silver Lake and the smaller Gull Lake delight as a refreshing break from the other scenery. As opposed to the desert montane ecosystem along the 395, you'll find this subalpine lake environment a quaint green hideaway that's a taste of the geography to come as you continue north along one of America's most scenic highways.
