    • It almost goes without saying, but say it I will. You should make an effort to get to the top of Teide, although forget the cable car to the very peak as it is usually quite crowded and you could be up for a bit of a wait. The landscape is incredibly barren, and has been used as a location for films including Planet Of The Apes (the original) and 1 Million Years BC. You can enjoy a clamber on the rocks too, just don't get carried away ...

    • La gomera lies to the west of Tenerife, and provides an excellent day trip from the madness of Tenerife. The island is beautiful and it almost feels as if you've been dropped in the middle of a South American jungle - it's very different to the often barren landscapes of Tenerife.

    Gomera does not have enough for a week's visit, in my opinion, but should be seen.

    The picture above shows the view of Tenerife and Mt Teide as seen from the heights of La Gomera.

    • If you book a trip to La Gomera, find out the route it takes. Normally you will go through the National Park in the centre, but you will hopefull pass by this monster of a rock, called the [erm, I forget -- will look this up ;-) ]

    Get your cameras ready!
