I visited Sydney, Australia during the 2000 summer Olympics. It was a fantastic time to be there - everything was shiny and clean, events were happening all over and the weather held out (for most of the time - we left before the few days' of Olympic downpour).

I will be visiting again early in 2002, and it will be interesting to see the difference then.

I am trying to get a hit-list of places to visit next time, based on what I missed last time. I'd love to hear from people who may have any advice about any of the things listed below:
<LI>Curry Cinema - I heard there's a place where you can watch a film while munching on a balti. Any ideas?
<LI>Home nightclub - we were refused entry last time. What nights are best?
<LI>Bare Island - worth a visit?
<LI>La Pereuse - likewise ...
<LI>Hawkesbury + River - what are best ways of getting there from Bondi?
<LI>Hunter Valley -as above, best way from Sydney (limited budget)
<LI>Olympic Park - I didn't get there during the Olympics, but is it worth a visit 'out of season'?
<LI>Diving - hopefully I'll have a PADI qualification. Any recommendations about diving near Sydney? I would like to get to Cairns (but the budget is limited), so any tips about accommodation there?
<LI>Snowy River - how far is it from Sydney, and what's the bet way to get there? Accommodation on site?
<LI>Kuringai National Park - worth a visit?
