The Wat Traimit temple is nothing special from the outside, but is famous for the big Golden Buddha statue. The statue itself is 800 years old and maybe it is not a masterwork, but.. yes, it is solid gold: more than 5 tons. The world largest golden statue. For a few centuries the statue was covered with white stucco and maybe for this reason (besides its weight) it did not disappear during the Burmese invasion.

Wat Pho temple, also known as Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is famous for the huge statue inside. Anyway, it is an interesting building also from the outside: it has been built by King Rama I at the end of the 18th century and it is one of the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. The traditional massage school close to the temple is famous through all Thailand and state of the art massages are performed at a reasonable price.

The large temple complex of Wat Phra Kaeo has been built at the end of the 18th century by King Rama I, together with the neighbouring Grand Palace. This temple is not inhabited by monks, and it is famous for the worhipped Emerhald Buddha statue, that dates back to the 15th century or even before. The entrance to the temple has two impressive demon statues guarding the gate.
