The Pleterje Carthusian Monastery

The Pleterje Carthusian Monastery lies in a peaceful valley at the foot of the Gorjanci hills.

An Open Air Museum

An Open-air Museum (skansen) is situated at the approaches to the monastery.

The Nest of Stork

Storks couple in their nest. They always built their nests at the top of the telegraph pole.

I thought your 1st picture was the Grande-Chartreuse (Grenoble), founded in 1084 by Bruno of Koln. Peterje was founded by monks from G-C, (Europe, already !). In 1904, the monks from GC sought shelter in Farneta,Italy. Were they in fact at Peterje ?

Olga, What a lovely new page! Travelogue is outstanding. The photographs (WOW) You're getting proffesional. Nature/animal photos are my favorites cat, stork, geese, goat, and, of course, Timy.

It is quite interesting that Pleterje is still full of life. The monks do enjoy their normal work as many years before. The page is presenting Pleterje on a very interesting way.
