Logarska dolina Valley

We proceed our outing from Radmirje (see obcina Kamnik page)
Forests in abound everywhere as far as the eye can see. Here and there are enormous farmhouses standing in hillsides even at a thousand meters above sea level. A winding road leads next to the Savinja River. Not so long ago, Savinja people that is those from the upper reaches of the valley, were raftsmen (flosarji in slovene) They used to float fir and spruce logs down to Zagreb, Belgrade, Romania. In winter, and whenever the water was low, they cut down the trees, brought them down to the banks of the Savinja, sawed them into logs which they lashed together to make rafts.

Logarska dolina is the second Natural Park. The valley is 7 km long and 250 m wide in average.
Actually there are three valles: Robanov Kot, Logarska dolina valley and Matkov kot.
The most known is Logarska dolina. With their incredible environment, they provide more than enough reasons to visit them and to return again and again
There are so much beauty spots, opportunites for sport and recreation, you can climb up to the mountain peaks, you can enjoy cycling or just walking, may be to the waterfall Rinka...

In the French Jura mountains, there also used to float logs. Superb landscapes of high mountains ! The Alpine Columbine (Aquilegia alpina) is protected in France too, as an endangered species.

IWow, Olga, your introductory photograph is quite remarkable! Even though the sun wasn't shining, the beauty( of the mountains) is still quite stunning. My favorite, of course, was the vivid picture of the small purple mountain flowers.
