"Welcome to my page" Gurmeet's Profile
I love to travel, because the love to breathe. I love to breathe the heavy air carrying salt on the beaches, fresh fragrant air of the mountains drenched with millions of molecules of water, dry desert breeze that tingles my nostrils with tiny specs of sand.
I love to travel, because I love to shoot. I see the world in frames, I see the world through my camera. I have a feeling I see what other people miss. I see millions of symmetries, textures and colors. Sometimes I defuse the colors and see the world in black and white.
It fascinates me to find how people live virtually everywhere. How ever difficult the terrain is, however saline the water is, however bad the crop they get from their fields, they continue to live and they do not look unhappy either.
You still get smile for a smile, hello for a hello, greetings for a greeting.
I travel because it helps me understand how strong the willpower to live is. I travel because I get inspired to know how we have built forts just by piling one stone atop another, how we have deliberately built temples on the top of the mountains (so that one can see 360 degree of view, or may be think about life while climbing the arduous trek?), how we made homes that look so different from the outside yet give the same comfort each night you sleep in them.
I travel because I love to discover, however different the faces are all over the world, however long or short nose is, or however varied the texture of the hair is, eyes express the same emotions.
I love to discover all this. I love to film and photograph all of this .
Though no camera or the cameraman of the world can capture what an eye can see, I still try to bring forward my point of view, I slice a section out of the entire landscape and present you a photograph. I overexpose, underexpose, use filters to depict how I would like to see a place/person.
Thankfully most of the times, my work takes me to places. I like calling myself a wildlife film maker, but most of the times I work as director-cameraman on various project- travel, tourism, documentaries, still shoots, corporate films.
I have not traveled as wide as most of you on VT, but I have traveled intense. I have been through all the major cities in the Himalayas by road. I love to drive, I have a decent jeep looking Indian version called Mahendra Bolero. I runs on diesel and is pretty reliable.
Outside India, I have been to China (where I travelled quite a bit), Hong Kong, Mauritius, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rawanda, Nepal and Bhutan.
My interests are wildlife, driving, bird watching and filming.
Hope you would enjoy my submissions.
