Getting there...

Is easy..
You can get on the ferry at Southampton. We used the ferry at Lymington. Only half an hour or so, but then, the ferry is very slow!
You cross from the mainland, through the Solent, and into Yarmouth harbour.
On the left as you land, there is a restaurant called Gossips, ( I think)!!!
Lovely food and pretty good prices too.
All the fish is freshly caught that morning, so you will be hard pressed to argue over the menu.
They cater for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

The Island...

Although the Isle of Wight is roughly 22 miles wide and around 18 miles across, the scenery is stunning. From the south of the island, on a clear day, you can see the coast of France.
The Isle of Wight has it's own theme park, Blackgang Chine. A zoo in Sandown. You can also visit the coloured sands at Alum Bay, and venture on the chairlift, if you don't fancy the walk to the beach.
There is also a small fortress overlooking the needles, just above Alum Bay.
