I was raised in Alliance and lived there for 18 long years. Ok, so it's not a bad place to grow up. The people are probably the most friendly, courteous, and caring I've ever met anywhere.

If you're into hunting and fishing, I can not recommend a better hub. If you like steak, there's no better place in the world to be.

Some people said it was in the middle of nowhere, I say it's in the middle of several somewheres: Cheyenne (182 mi), Denver (250 mi), Rapid City (159 mi), Lincoln (422 mi).
