I visited India for two weeks in January 2002. I had never been in Asia before and I must say that I expected more of a chock than it was. We were staying in Bombay at my boyfriends parents. They have now been living there for one year and they are staying two more years. It was not a budget trip rather a luxurious one even in Swedish meassures. We stayed in their appartment at Malabar Hill and the view over the Ocean was fantastic. We did a lot of shopping and sightseeing in Bombay for about one week then we went on a trip to the golden triangle: Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. The contrasts between Sweden and India are huge and also the contrasts between Bombay and the places we visited when we where on our trip. The fondest memory I have of India is all the nice and friendly people that we met and also the things that we thought was very strange but is all natural in India. For example all the men who were holding hands and got there arms around each other. First I thought it was great that the Indian people could show there homosexuality so openly, but I soon understood that this was a sign of friendship. |
