The big event that coincided with my time in London was Live 8, which wreck the traffic HAVOC on 2 July 2005. So, that messed up my transportation to Luton airport. However, I made some friends in the process of looking for our way there. In the end, 5 of us shared a taxi all the way to Luton at 3am.

Anyway, I met up with Zoe_bcn, my 2nd friend on VT !!! We had dinner in a very nice Moroccan restaurant and a drink (for the road) before I ran off the last tube back to central London.

I also met up with Jessica (jessica-b) and Andy (easyoar) for dinner. We had swedish food - LOTS of garlic ;-))

| | Second trip ~ September 2004 London was my 1st stop (again) in my 2004 vacation. After a mad scramble of emails and sms-es, I finally met up with Andy (VTer Fen) for dinner in Piazza Cafe, Covent Garden. We had a nice lightish dinner - spent alot of time catching up each other's lives and checking out photos on our digicams.
Then it was wandering around Covent Garden (packed with people in some areas as there was a live performance giong on then), looking for a place to sit down.
We finally agreed on Punch & Judy Pub and had some drinks. Then it was off to the nearest common tube station to check on the times for the last trains. After one last coffee, we parted ways and I headed back to Heathrow on the last train.
So, I reached Terminal 3 in the wee hours of the morning. It was very cold and quiet. What can I do except look for the most comfortable row of chairs, wrap myself with my sweater and try to catch some sleep (at least 5 hours, though) :-)

First trip ~ October 2001 My first city in Europe was London in October 2001. After going through some soul searching, I decided that I need to get out there and see the world a bit.
The flight to London was the cheapest from Kuala Lumpur at that time. I had always wanted to go to London and see what the big fuss is about. England always held a strange fascination for me, as my mother was there in the 60s for her teaching. She had all these old photographs and slides on her time here and I remember being so mesmerized by them since young. I just knew that I had to go there when I can.
I coincided my trip to London to attend a Depeche Mode concert in London Arena. Being a longtime fan of the group, its always been a dream of mine to see them Live. Missed their concert when they were in Asia, so I was determined to see them.
Another source of inspiration for this trip was Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, about the London Underground. Thoroughly fascinating stuff :-)
I enjoyed myself tremendously there. I met some old friends as well as connected so well with fellow Depeche Mode fans AND even managed a lunch date with VTer FEN (Andy) in a charming italian eatery ! | | |
