I stayed in Aberdeen, specifically Aberdeen Proving Grounds while I was volunteering for 11 months. It was an unusual experience since I got to live in the barracks of a military base without enlisting. I just loved the food in the mess hall, the walk to the PX in the middle of summer, and the sounds of weapon testing plus the fact that it was a Superfund site. It was truly an unforgettable experience and it gave me a deep appreciation of what our troops go through.
