Bighorn Mountains outside of Sheridan

Wyoming is the least populated state in the USA at under 500,000 people. Sheridan lies at the foot of the Bighorn Mountain Range. The range is appox. 100 miles long and 50 miles wide and most is National Forest land.

Sheridan County has a population of approx. 30,000 and Sheridan City 14,000. Sheridan is not a big tourist town even though it is one of the main routes to Yellowstone National Park on Interstate 90. It is still considered a ranching community and enjoys local rodeos and polo.

Our local radio station has a web cam looking out over the valley in which Sheridan is located. www.sheridanmedia.com/site/webcam2.html also see fiberpipe's new streaming web cam of main street sheridan at www.shr.fiberpipe.net/webcamera.htm

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:a small friendly western town in the shadow of the Bighorn Mountains
  • Cons:taxi service is very limited- rent a car if you are flying into the area
  • In a nutshell:A town that still has an active main street with lots of local shops. If you like outdoor activitiesand want to get away from the city it's a get place to be. so leave your high heels and your wing tips at home. no need for them here.

Hello, Do not stay at Spahn's Bed and Breakfast. The Inn's sanitation is very poor, the innkeeper (Mr. Spahn) is extremely rude, and the showers are cold! Unfortunately, I am not the only traveler who has had problems with this B&B.

Lots of good tips. Would like to see more photos, like of the medicine wheel and the Tongue River Canyon.

We actually spent a 4th of July in your area a long time ago on a visit to Montana before we lived here. Went to a rodeo and the fireworks had lightning behind them in the mountains. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
