|  | I had the opportunity to visit Rome in March of 2000 on a school trip for art. Italy was the last country we visited on our European tour, and Rome was our final destination (for an overview of the trip please see my Europe page). Rome is a wonderful place to visit- it's a city which completely incorporates ancient history with modern day life. As you walk through the streets, you are forever backwards and forwards in time. During my visit, I also had the opportunity to visit Vatican City, which is the smallest independent state in the world.
