  • We booked a premium room(265 Euro's a night) online before we left and thought since there were so many good reviews on VT that the hotel would be a great place to stay. When we got to our room it was dingy run down and not a 5 star hotel room at all (see photo's). Before we unpacked we went down to the front desk and were assured that that was the upgraded room, but the women was nice enough to give us a new room that was not so run down.

    Unique Qualities: Very good breakfast.

  • Try staying at another hotel. At checkout they put an additional 400 euros on my bill for things like laundry, car service etc. They did take them off after we discussed it for 15 minutes. Dont listen to peoples reviews who have not stayed here. try another hotel.

  • The day of the Football (soccer) match we went to the concierge in the morning and asked him if the game was sold out. He told us it was completely sold out and that if we wanted tickets he could get them for us through the black market for 175 euros each. We passed. We also went to the stadium for ourselves on the subway and found that there were plenty of tickets still for sale and we got great seats for 45 euro's each.

Unique Qualities: Tried to take us for a ride.

  • One of the good things about the Westin Palace was the breakfast, very good service and the people seemed very nice.

  • We did not stay but went over for Sunday brunch, much to our suprise Sunday brunch Starts at 1:30pm so we missed out and had some duck egg rolls in the lobby. It was relaxing and is in a good location. When we left we saw them setting up the sunday brunch with lobsters and champagne it looked like something out of a dream. I think the cost was around 80 euros a piece. ouch.

Happy birthday from Spain! Museo Thyssen has a good collection, but Museo del Prado is unique.
