As much as I would like to deny it, I am at heart a New Yorker. I was born in Manhatten. I also lived on the Upper West Side for a few years after college and worked in mid-town. And although I no longer live in the city full-time, every time I come back to visit I feel like I am home. My family taught me to love riding the subways, shopping on Columbus Avenue, and enjoying all the cultural and culinary delights that the city has to offer.

Working in the financial service industry and having family and friends in NYC, the incidents of September 11th hit very close to home. Thankfully, all of my immediate loved ones are safe.

The city still has a strange effect on me. When I am not there, I don't really miss it. But when I spend some time there, I crave more! I always kick myself for not extending my stay so I can do more shopping, try out new restaurants and see more sites. I will definately be spending some more time in NYC as my boyfriend, Joe, is a complete theatre addict.

We had been planning this girls trip to NYC for over a year now. Marla had never been to the Big Apple and Betsy had only been once. On Saturday night it started snowing around midnight and did not stop until late Sunday.
