Situated in the heart of San Francisco's vibrant Union Square neighborhood, the Maxwell Hotel San Francisco is a striking art deco structure with a theatrical flair.

I stayed here for business when it was the raphael. Looks like it has definately upgraded its decor.

Unique Qualities: Built in 1908, and recently restored, The Maxwell Hotel San Francisco reflects the drama of its Theatre Row address. Each room is stylishly decorated in a sophisticated blend of theatrical and Art Deco influences and appointed with writing desk, custom bath amenities, velour "Frette" bathrobes, iron & board and in-room safe.

Defining urban luxury and sophistication in downtown San Francisco, the boutique Hotel Palomar offers 198 Zen-like guestrooms and 16 suites. Rooms feature elegant simplicity, clean lines, and tailored furnishings with their signature leopard print carpeting. Each has down comforters, robes, and VCRs.

I have stayed here a few times and love it each time. Especially love the location - across the street from a fantastic Sephora.

Unique Qualities: The hotel's restaurant- The Fifth Floor- is one of the best in SF.

Simple lined, understated by rich detail, Palomar's guest rooms are tailored based on the geometry of a square. Emerald green squares protrude from the headboard and the bed is finished with a plush down comforter and densely packed down pillows. Following an urban, sophisticated look, the walls are covered in a natural raffia weave and carpets are a playful leopard print, tamed with tones of blue, gold and ivory. The bathrooms all feature Aveda bath products. The service in the hotel is seamless, with out flaw or peer, the professional staff anticipate the guests every need and caters to individual preference. The hotel also boasts a fitness center, for the health minded guests to use at their leisure.

This is the grand hotel that my sisters and I always stayed in during our stopover from New York to Hong Kong. We loved this place, especially the ice cream parlour. I have since been back for business and the hotel has not lost its place in my heart.

The grandeur of the fully-restored hotel coupled with its reputation for impeccable service promises a truly memorable experience. The recently completed $85 million restoration project is highlighted by the re-emergence of the Main Lobby as a grand public space. Each of the hotel's spacious guestrooms and suites were also redecorated in elegant style.
