I am fortunate to have visited Venice twice - the first time as a tourist, the second as a visitor (or so my Venetian friends tell me). My most recent trip to Venice was to stay with a friend at his family's home in Santa Croce. It is a wonderful old house on the Grande Canal. This time I got to see more of the real Venice!

    You are sooooo lucky to have friends in this beautiful city! I really enjoyed looking around the Ghetto, too - the synagogues were so beautiful! Not what I was expecting in Venice...
