Capital of the Cote d' Azur, Nice is a glittering gem. It is as sophisticated and elegant, as it is charming and quaint.
Nice takes its heritage and beauty seriously, carefully protecting the beautiful frescoes and the trompe l'oeil, which ornament the façades of the houses of Old-Nice. It supports the activity of the Cours Saleya, where the flower, fruit and vegetable markets are held daily.
Much has been said and written of the quality of the sunlight in Nice. Truly beautiful blue skies reflect the lovely Mediterranean Sea and combine with the warm ochre palette of the city's buildings to create a glow unique to romantic Nice, which has long been a favorite of artists. Some of my favorite painting from Matisse and Raoul Dufy are of Nice. |
