  • Next door to the Olympic Stadium, an impressive sight with many statues around the stadium. Not sure what it's been used for but, if you're at the Olympic Stadium it's worth a look.

  • Huge church on an impressive square and just around the corner from home for us. Looks like a popular place to meet too.

  • I'm told it's the biggest amphitheatre ever built and was started in 72 AD, who an I to argue. Well we visited on a Sunday lunchtime, this was a bad move as it shuts early on a Sunday. Looking at the queues outside we estimated we would not get in before it closed and had to settle for admiring it from the outside. (Closed Monday too)
If you want to go - go early is my suggesion, it's a really impressive sight.

  • This road runs from the Colosseum to the Vittorio Emanuele II monument and passes many of Romes great sights, a must to walk along. Try not to go when it's busy to enjoy it more. Sunday mornings there are street entertainers, market stalls and about 50% if the population in attendance!

  • Finished in 1927,I'm told, and a monument to the first king of Italy, this is a white marble monument visible from much of Rome. Does not seem to be too popular, known locally as the typewriter or the wedding cake - can see what they mean. Anyway it's hard to miss and the views across the city are good if you fancy the climb.

  • Monument to a fallen soldier from WW I, it's on the Vittorio Emanuele monument and is guarded by two soldiers. Well worth a moments thought about past times.

  • At the end of Via Fiori Imperiali and close to the Vittorio Emanuele II monument, a likely place to end up, it's a busy road junction, but not a bad place to linger a while and maybe buy a panini and watch Rome go by.
