I'm lucky enough to have a job that allows me 10 days off every five weeks. While this does not allow for too much long haul travel there are certainly aound 10 holidays a year to look forward to.
Here's what we've done in 2011 so far.
Jan. Innsbruck to watch the 4 hills ski-jumping.
Feb. Firstly London to see a Waterboys gig and then a long weekend in Brest.
March. A long weekend in Valladolid.
April. 4 days in Lisbon.
May. 5 days in Kiev
June. Visits to Rostock and Wismar in Germany then Malbork and Gdansk in Poland with a good ferry ride between the two.
Aug. A weekend in Rotterdam
Sept. Visits to Sarajevo and Konjic in BiH then Metkovic and Cavtat in Croatia.
Oct. Munich and Kaufbeuren, just missed Oktoberfest!
Nov. A week in Sharm el Sheikh.
Dec. Long weekend in Lyon.

And so into 2012.
Jan. A long weekend in Marseille
Feb. Oslo and hopefully a visit to Vikersund to watch the ski flying
Early Mar. An appointment with The Waterboys in Genk, Belgium.
Late March, April. A long weekend in Poznañ, Poland
April. a boys weekend in Munich, sounds awful!!
May, visits to Tbilisi and Batumi in Georgia, then another appointment with the Waterboys, this time in Birmingham.
June A week in Western Switzerland, arrive and depart from Basel with stops in Bern and Lake Thun.
July. Denmark, visits to Copenhagen, Odense and Aarhus.
Aug. The Dorsten Bierbörse and some time in Essen, Germany.
Sept. 8 days in Croatia, arrive in Zadar and leave from Cavtat, stopping off in Makarska along the way, lovely!
Oct. Finally going to see Leonard Cohen, and it's in Lisbon, excellent!

Indeed? Enjoy Wismar! I sort of fell in love with the place. It is not a polished Disneyland for tourists, it is an authentic and charming place with so many well-preserved details (although some plaster and paint are urgently needed here and there).

Chau Bonio! I loved the Mercado in Montevideo, eating there was really a good experience. Also art gallery in Old Town, very worth a visit. See my page if you wish. I'll check yr pages (Geneva etc) for upcoming trip there in Dec. Buen viaje!
