Foz do Iguacu is situated in the mountains of the Serra do Mar, between the States of Parana and Santa Catarina and building a natural border between Brasil, Argentina and Paraguai.
at the modest elevation of 1300m, the Rio Iguacu snakes west around 600km through Rainforest and combined with the Rio Parana, picking up speed, amazing speed in the rainy season of May/July, the Foz then demonstrates its enourmes force, launching a thunderous noise on everybody and anything around.
Thousands of years ago, before white people saw the Foz, this area was used as burial ground by the Tupi-Guarani Indians, testimony for the eerieness and mystic of this place.
the Foz has 275 Falls over 3km wide and 80m high, therefor makes it wider then the Victoria Falls and higher then the Niagara...and its said, more beautiful then either!
I heard American travellers say: Poor Niagara !!
I think the words awesome and sublime will do the Foz just fine
the great waters where first seen by Europeans in 1542, when Dom Alvarez Nunes.....Cabeza de Vaca, his nickname......Cow Head, found the Foz.
today, the National Park of Foz do Iguacu is a World Heritage site

I won't fight about the Falls, both are fantastic in their own rights.
