I live here, and here's the lowdown on my pages.

Independence Day in Virginia -- birthplace of many presidents! These are the fireworks at my sister's in Manassas. See the travelogue for more on an all-American, suburban 4th.

On my Alexandria page you'll find a few tips about this area I call home--just South of Washington, DC. It's full of history and very convenient to other tourist destinations on the East Coast.

Further afield, you can visit my Leesburg page and see a lovely historic home called Oatlands. This former plantation is just a few miles south of Leesburg.

Old Tree, Old Buildings

On my Markham page you'll find information about picking apples in the countryside near Washington, DC. There's a travelogue of my family's adventures there in 2002.

The Sign Says it All

On my Suffolk page, you'll find a travelogue about PeanutFest 2002. My sister lives here and I'm a regular visitor, so hopefully I'll get more tips about the area as time goes by. Suffolk is just south of Norfolk/Hampton Roads and very close to Virginia Beach. It is also only an hour south of historic Williamsburg.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Steeped in history, with a pleasant climate and central location for visiting the East Coast of the USA
Cons:Traffic can be a nightmare
