Brussels is the capital of Belgium and also gaining ground as the unofficial capital of Europe due to the growth of the European Community and international business. The city is full of fine and contrasting archictecture from the monumental and modern to the medieval origins of the Grand Place. It's also a surprisingly green city with many fine parks and open spaces in which to take a rest between sightseeing. Street names are given in French and Dutch in recognition of the French and Flemish communities.
Much of the centre can be seen on foot while there are plenty of buses, trams or the Metro to take you to sights such as the Atomium and Bruparck.

Brussels has restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets and the quality of food is very high which makes eating out an experience to savour. And as for beer drinkers and chocolate fanciers - you've definitely come to the right place!
