Mr. Beef.
It really doesn't get much more Chicago than this. One thing we're known for in Chicago is our version of Italian beef. Well, as the name implies, Mr. Beef has a damn good example. They also have Italian sausage (another Chicago specialty), burgers, fries and the standard short-order selection.
It's important to note that this isn't a four star restaurant by any means. It's a fast-moving lunch time spot where the local working stiffs come to clog some arteries. Half of this place's beauty is the frenzied choreography that takes place behind the counter as the cooks and servers flip, shake, wrap, and deep fry dozens of orders to the music of their old-style Chicâgo âccents. A meal and a show, all for a low low price. It will cost far more to park your car than to eat at Mr. Beef.
Favorite Dish: Their Italian Sausage and Italian Beef sandwiches are really what make the place so popular. You can get them spicy, sweet, or plain. Everything is pretty good, if you don't mind grease.
