Hello friends & fellow travelers
Welcome to Laramie Wyoming where the wind never stops blowing
Better put on your hard hats because this site is under construction
May you all have pleasant journeys as you boldly go where no man has gone before

Travel Tips
Travel light. Try to pack the minimum stuff you can. If possible we always try to get by with a carryon each thus avoiding checking in luggage at the airport. If we’re on a lengthy vacation we would find a laundromat to wash our clothes or we would wash em in our hotel room. Some hotels provide laundry & dry cleaning services but we only use them as a last resort since they are usually pricey.

Airline Travel
Join a frequent flier program of an airline flying out of your town or nearby major airport and each time you fly you accumulate miles towards a free flight.
Register at the airline web site so you can book flights online and take advantage of some online promotions. Plus you get bonus miles when you book online. And some airlines will let you checkin online and print your boarding pass 24 hours before your flight.
Try to attain an elite status in the program by flying a certain number of miles a year. We are Premier members of the United Mileage Plus program by flying more than 25000 miles a year. Some of the benefits are 1. Checking in with the Business & 1st class line instead of the usually long economy line. 2. Boarding the plane earlier than the rest of the economy passengers. 3. 25% bonus miles in addition to the regular miles 4. Special lines thru airport security for elite travelers. Checkout www.united.com

Road Travel
Join AAA (American Automobile Association). For $60/yr you get up to 3 free emergency road service, like towing or jump starting a dead battery. If you live in a place that experiences extreme winter conditions like here in Wyoming, having AAA is good insurance. But the best reason to join AAA is you can get all the free city & state maps you need & also tourbooks & campground books for each state. You can also make discounted hotel reservations & flight reservations thru their travel agency. For more info checkout www.aaa.com

Lodging
Join the frequent guest program of your favorite hotel/motel chain. You can accumulate points towards a free night or you can get airline miles with each stay. We joined the Choice hotels program (www.choicehotels.com) Also book rooms online for best savings. We are cheapskates so we donot stay in 5 star hotels unless someone else is paying. We choose rooms based on price & location

Dining
One of the pleasures of traveling is the variety of new food to experience. Whenever we get to a new unfamiliar place we would pickup whatever free publication guides available, either at the airport or the hotel or on the streets. They would list most of the good places to eat in town & sometimes have coupons for discounts or 2 for 1 deals. If we want to try a fancy (as in expensive) restaurant we would go there for lunch where entrees are usually priced less than dinner, & usually order their specials. We try to look for buffets wherever we go because we love to eat. We also love to try food from street vendors, from New York City to Mexico City, Tijuana or Bangkok. But always make sure that the food has just been cooked, & not sitting there for a while. And it would be wise to only drink bottled water.

Getting Around
We usually use public transportation because we hate to drive in unfamiliar big cities. Parking, if you can find any, is usually expensive. I would websearch available public transportation for each new place we visit. Buy an all day pass if available. Most big cities have excellent public transport & have web sites or call lines to facilitate your travel needs. If you state where you are & where you want to go they’ll tell you what bus or train to take. We like to take subway trains when possible to avoid traffic jams. If visiting a small town, then we would rent a car just for the days we need it.
