| Stirling Castle, Scotland |
Sat 250ft (80mtr) above a flat plain upon a defunct volcano, Stirling Castle makes an imposing site as you approach the area. The Stirling area was a place of strategic importance and was once said to hold the key to Scotland. Consequently, the town and the Castle have seen many battles between the Scots and the English for control of region. Indeed, the name “Stirling” is a derivative of “the Striveling”, meaning place of strife. |
