"South Africa" South Africa by Jim_Eliason
South Africa Travel Guide: 11,761 reviews and 27,784 photos
Here are some general highlights from my trip to South Africa.
South Africa is definitely a good place for a first time trip to Africa. It has the wildlife and culture of Africa along with modern infrastructure and convienences.
South Africa has all of the exotic animals that draw many of us to Africa. Along with a few, like Penguins, that you wouldn't expect
South Africa also has modern cities steeped with a mixture of African and European influences.
All said if visit SA, it is not a place you will soon forget. It has wonderful wildlife and ancient culture but also more than its fair share of modern problems from AIDS to mind numbing poverty and social inequality.
- Pros:Fantastic Natural Beauty, wildlife and rich culture
- Cons:Still a large disparity in the lifestyles of the people
- In a nutshell:Great page to visit!

South Africa combines wilderness and sophistication, the country has a lovely people and many surprises, a good traveller like you went there to tell us! I hope I could go there too!;)
I've always wanted to visit Africa, and it looks lik SA would be a good introduction to the Dark Continent.
Very useful suggestions and advices for my future trip :-). The yam? What an intriguing word! What is that?
Super shot of the school children! South Africa sounds like a great trip - except for the 18 hour flight, yikes (not that that would stop me)!
Very pretty place.
SA is so beautiful - and was my transit to Namibia
I see that you have a lot of photos posted on Kruger, Pretoria and Cape Town! I will definitely be checking them out this week as my work committments allow! Hope you had a great trip.
