Mormon Fort

The first non-indian people to inhabit the area were a group of Mormon missionaries who established a fort here in 1855. Most of what's seen today is a recreation of the original.

Las Vegas Zoo

Small and a bit backward in its settings, this can still be a nice place to spend an hour or so with this collection of mostly birds with a few scattered other animals.. This is still based mostly upon steel cages not the more naturalistic settings of other zoos, however I could not see the signs of animals not being properly feed that others have reported.

Red Rock Canyon Red Rock Canyon Review

Just about a dozen miles west of town is this fantastic scenic National recreation Area. If you need to get away from the artificiality of the strip to something natural this is the closest place to do so.

Nevada State Museum Museums Review

This branch of the state museum outlines Las Vegas history and also has an exhibit on the behind the scenes aspect of working at a casino.
