Copan was another of the great Mayan cities founded in 100 AD and reaching the apex of its power under the king 18 Rabbit in 695 AD. The city went into a slow decline after that and was abandoned sometime after 822 AD.

    Looks a fascinating place to visit. I liked seeing all the stellae and zoomorphs (a new words for me!). A shame they got the stairs in the wrong order though!
