Getting TO/AROUND: The Tuk Tuk is Bangkok's unique contribution to public transport. One should take at least one Tuk Tuk ride in Bangkok just for the experience. Once you have that experience then take the cabs, they are cheaper and air conditioned. Unfortunately the Tuk Tuks have no meters and the drivers are worse than the taxi drivers , if that's possible, in trying to take advantage of you.

Getting TO/AROUND: Bangkok traffic is extremely congested. It can take up to a half hour to get a few miles by land. A good solution is to take to the water whenever possible.

Getting TO/AROUND: When you can't find a water route or use the sky train the best way to get around is by taxi. However you need to be firm and insist on them using the meter the rate will always be cheaper that way. Even long rides should not be more than 100 baht (2.50 USD).

Getting TO/AROUND: The absolute single best way to get around is by the Skytrain if possible. Unfortunately the Sky train serves only the modern part of the city and does not have stops at the major tourist sites. It is, however, a good way to get to some of the markets and nightlife areas.
