FESTIVALS

During the summer Amsterdam is the city of the festivals. In June the “Holland Festival” and the “Amsterdams Roots Festival” guarantee for special performances and cultural manifestations in theatre, concert hall and on the streets.
In August the new cultural season will be opened with the ”Prinsengrachtconcert”, and “de Parade” will take care of theatre, dance and music at the “Martin Luther Kingpark”.

VONDELPARK

At the Vondelpark, designed and lay out in 1850, you will find a magnificent piece of nature in the middle of the inner part of the town. The park reaches out from “het Leidseplein” till the “Amstelveenseweg”.
It is a beautiful place for a picnic, but also for a trip on your skeelers. During the summer there is always something going on, on stage ….
The main entrance is at “de Stadhouderskade”.

MARKET

Who loves to rummage around through a market is in Amsterdam at the right place. Offcourse you must visit the typical “Albert Cuypmarkt”, where you will find almost everything for free, clothes, toys, antique but also books, records and lots of food.
But also the flea market at the “Waterlooplein” is worth it …

THEATRE CARRE AND THE CONCERT HALL

The most important cultural stages in Amsterdam are Theatre Carré and the Concert Hall.
Carré started in 1887 as a circus theatre.
These days the beautifull hall admits room for many music-, act- and danceperformances.
The concert hall was built in 1888.
The impressive concert hall is the classical music centre of the Netherlands, in which the famous concert hall orchestra succesfully performs for years now.

ROYAL PALACE

The Royal Palace at the Dam, is the most important monument of Amsterdam. It was built between 1648 and 1665 by Jacob van Campen. In the beginning it was used as city hall and after King Ldewijk Napoleon renamed it as a Palace.
A part of the palace is still in use as a residence. But visitors can take a look in the Royal kitchen. Let you guide trough the magnificent corridors, chambers and halls and feel like a princess / prince for just a second …
