Samoa: the treasured islands of the South Pacific | Samoan canoe at Safotu..best place to catch palolo |
here a place you gotta see!!! for more interesting pics and news about my islands, got to http://www.fotuosamoa.samoalive.com enjoy the trip!! If youre in Samoa in October-November, head for Savaii for the annual palolo catching, palolo is a (sea worm?), ,...anyways, it's a real delicacy for Samoans and everyone is out in full force to catch some...if not, just go there anyway, drink a few Vailimas at seaside and cheer on the masses whicle their fish at dawn...awesome experience!!
Also very informative is the Samoa Tourism website http://www.visitsamoa.ws |
| | cuers, south of france I luuuuved this place, the sunny days, the awesome wines, the food,.yum!, the smells of summer, lavender, seaside, sun-damaged french people and lobster looking belgians. if i won the lottery today, i'd be in la coitat, cuers for the european summer and samoa during christmas break. but hey, it's 1pm, im in the office in newton stinky auckland for another 6 hours and i dont play the lotto. God drop a miracle on me now |
| | Promoting Samoa to the World oh well, thats the idea behind sending 80 dancers to a ***hole called Brande, somewhere near Krausnick, one hour out of Berlin. There's a fake tropical village, with 29 degrees temp inside, swimming pools, samoan, island dancing and pale assed germans.... The perfect escape for a family who cant be bothered flying away or driving 1000s of k's for a beach holiday. Fortunately, i was only there for 2 weeks to take the remaining dancers from Samoa and help out with the show transition from Brazil to the South Seas. The concept is adventurous: meaning adventure comes with unexpected turns and screw ups. Sorry if i sound a bit cynical, its just that being stuck in a place like that for 6 months is NOT a holiday... guten tag |
| | see me topless, NOT: you perv...hehe thats our crowd growing up in Savaii, Samoa...from right: my sister Omega,(now living in Oman), Cherelle is a journalist in Samoa and for New Zealand Herald. Moi, im stuck in Auckland at the mo, trying to send more palagis to Samoa, and Diana is in Seattle and i have not seen her since 1992.
Theres the Safua Girls.... Relle, Omega and I will be back in December in Savaii and plan to do a 5 day tour of Savaii , going only to the secluded places where no palagis go. We'll stay with families all over the island...looking forward to it!!! |
| I got this photo somewhere online, |
| | Tattooing in Samoa: O le tatau Tattooing is cultural practice in Samoa for both males and females. Males get the full excrutiating treatment tho, thats from the knees, to the middle of the back, the only areas not tatooed is the male's polos and ummm their you-know-what, and the inner backside, (buttocks).
Then when the ceremony is done there's a lot of celebration and the man performs a siva (dance), and he walks to the seaside every morning and evening to massage his tatts.
You can spot a newly tattoed man because he walks with legs apart, and a lavalava around his waist, wobbling towards the seaside. Rather amusing when you see it. |
