The Monteverde cloud forest is certainly one of the best known places in the country to tourists. To me the trip I made to Monteverde was rather expensice and dissapointing. For the $30 I payed, I just saw trees! Of course that stays a nice view, such a cloud forest, but I think the tourism made it difficult to live for the (former) inhabitants. I think you can see much more for much less in other places!

To be honnest, we've not seen much more than just trees. Beautifull trees, but the promised quetzals, monkeys, ... all... more travel advice
