New York 2000 - Christmas and New Year
If you love big cities , decoration, shopping, culture, skyscrapers, shows - New York City is one place to go.
New York City is an overwhelming city with all its sights. I had a look once again at the Empire State Building, the World Trade Centers, the Statue of Liberty, the Central Park, the Broadway, Fifth Avenue, the Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown and Little Italy. It was fascinating to stand on one of the top of the world skyscrapers overlooking those thousands of buildings and lights.
New York sure is one of the most expensive places in the world. We found a good hotel in the centre near most of the sights for a reasonable prize. That is the Pennsylvania Hotel and we got around by foot and subway. Some highlights of the stay were a view from the Empire State building at night, walking over the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, looking at the famous big Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Centre, shopping at Macys and having a Cocktail in the Art Deco Bar with piano music on the 26th floor of the Beekman hotel looking at the river and those thousands of lights at night. New York is a great city!
