i am free as a bird now
I am free from what you want. I am free from what you need. I am free what you are.

I love to drive. Really miss it. Now that I live in Japan I don't drive. I take a train everywhere or ride my granny bike. But I was once free. That's what's great about America. Driving fast. Driving free. In my car.

My hometown, Nagoya

Nagoya Japan is my new hometown. I don't know how much longer I'm gonna live here. This is the fifth place I've lived. Beginning in Atlanta, then Los Angeles, Bellingham, and San Francisco. Now this tiny metropolis in Japan. It's unbelieveable how different it is here in Nagoya, in Japan. If you've lived in Japan, you understand what I mean. Many foreigners come and go. A few stay. I'm sort of at that 'in between' stage. Not sure if I'm coming or going. For those of you who've lived outside your native land, maybe you can understand the supreme intoxication of living abroad. Yet somehow the call of your homeland is always inside your head, maybe pushed to the back a little, always calling your name. Sometimes you hear it when you're walking down the street. At other times you see your former city in a movie, and you measure your current self not by what you are today, but by where you were when the movie was made. "Was I in LA then? What year was that? No, I was already in Japan. But what if I would've stayed?"

The one who stays never really knows what is out there. The one who leaves always wonders what might have been, and memories, fading memories of what was, oh how wonderful it was, and how wonderful it still could be, remain with you always.
