Getting TO/AROUND: Brisbane has a shiny new airport (thank goodness - the old one was known as 'the big shed') and only weeks ago, the Airtrain was launched. Airtrain is a rail link from the International Airport to the Brisbane CBD. This will make the airport much more accessible for everyone. It costs under $10 one way and it takes 22 minutes from the airport to the Brisbane CBD.
The best way to get around Brisbane is by bus or car. If you plan to be in Brisbane for only a short time then you probably won't venture out beyond the inner city area therefore buses will suffice.
If you plan to make quite a few trips in one day then you are best to buy a Day Rover ticket for around $8-$9 which allows for unlimited travel on buses and ferries. You also don't have to worry about what zone you are travelling in. This ticket covers all zones.
If you are travelling on the weekend, then you should buy a Off-peak Saver ticket for $4.40 - there are no time or distance restrictions for this ticket on the weekend. On a weekday, you can use a off-peak saver between 9am and 3:30pm and after 7pm on the same day. You can buy these tickets on buses but NOT on ferries so be sure to buy one at a newsagency before you board the ferry.
