Pont de Suert This is one of the ways into the national park of Aiguestortes. The town is nice enough but not outstanding. It is linked with Barcelona and tarragona by bus but the best bus routes are those through very sparely populated country into in the valley leading up to and the bus towards Aiguestortes through the fabulous Boi Valley where the natural scenery is enhanced by beautiful Romanesque churches. |
The Boi Valley and Taull In every village in the valley leading up to Boi itself, there is a fine Romanesque church. Immediately opposite the church in Boi, there is an information centre for Aiguestortes where the Land Rover taxis leave at regular intervals for the park. You pay a set price for your seat, however many are travelling. Taull is not technically in the valley but above it. The bus goes on there ater Boi and it has not one but two Romanesque churches for the tiny village of which one is shown above. |
Aiguestortes Obviously most walking routes in a Pyrennean park are tough. certainly to an ex-mountain walker to me it looked majestic. Howevr I was delighted by the fact that there was a long walk by the river with very little gradient. I could have enjoyed it for much longer if I had not fixed a time with the driver to be picked up. Lakes are an attractive feature of the mountain scenery here. |
