  • There are 6.5million trees in Toronto, give or take a few. This provides a soothing green canopy in the heat of summer. If only more cities were like this, especially in Japan. In Kyoto for example trees are immediatelly cut down to stumps or totally removed as soon as they begin to provide any shade - they drop too many leaves and interfere with construction. Toronto felt like a green heaven by contrast!

  • The summer in Toronto was hot. Now I usually don't eat ice-cream, maybe twice a year, however when in Rome... I consumed so much ice-cream while wandering the streets. It was fun to pop into corner stores and go through their selection. My favorite hands down was the Orange Creamsicle! Vanilla ice-cream on the inside, orange ice on the outside. mmm...

Very cool outlook on Toronto - not your typical "I went to the CN Tower, Canadians say eh" travelogue - but I got a real sense of how every day folk live/see Toronto. I agree - staying with friends definitely has its perks for that!
