What to buy: Having worn a sari years and years before I somehow manage to get it on by myself... though I wasn't sure how to put the head dress on exactly and the bindi was the manager's idea! It felt so feminine and was the most beautiful silk fabric, it was a shame to take it off...

Hand-printed sheets and embroidered

What to buy: Near the Samode Palace, a boy from the Palace's art shop, took me to a seller of sheets in the nearby Samode village. There I was able to buy beautiful cotton and silk hand-printed sheets, as well as a lavish looking deep deep blue bed cover with gold embroidery - it literally shimmers in the lamp light. It was also about half the price of the Jaipur emporiums.

What to pay: For al these sheets and bed covers as well as craftwork, I paid about 50dollars US.

Sari's and fabric

What to buy: All over Jaipur you can buy lovely fabrics with bright colorful handprinted designs. There are these larger emporiums, airconditioned where you get served a nice cold drink while you are shown fabrics. Beyond my budget and I explained this to the salesperson. However they still insisted I try it on, and there was no real pressure to buy.
