"Ericeira" a Ericeira Travel Page by acilina

Ericeira is a small village a few kilometers north Lisbon. A good place for summer vacations, plenty of fresh fish, by good fortune without oil!!!
In summer Ericeira is a tourist resort of excellence. Its beaches with clean waters rich in mineral salts are excellent at low tide for fishing octopus and razor places clams, without forgetting that this is one of the places on the Portuguese coastline where there is most iodine in the air.

Here the Atlantic Ocean shows it strenght.
The tourist may choose among sheltered and sometimes crowded beaches like the Praia do Sul, in the village itself, or the quieter and less public ones, like São Sebastião at the north end of the village, on the way to the camping site.

Further still, near the ruins of the old palace Paço de Ilhas and the traditional settlement of Santo Isidoro, lies the beach of Ribeira de Ilhas. Facing the open sea, it is internationally renowned as one of the best surfing spots in Europe. After Ribamar comes São Lourenço beach, the favorite for those who like plenty of space and beautiful sea views.

On the opposite side of the village the river running alongside the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Ó and across the sandy beach of Lizandro offers pleasant opportunities for boat trips.
