Virginia is a beautiful state that is rich in history. I live in Northern Virginia, which is very close to DC. There are many, many civil war and revolutionary war related sites in this area, including Bull Run (Manassas) , Thomas Jefferson's home of Monticello, and George Washington's home in Mount Vernon.
