Aberdeen is a great city to visit if you are in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Inverness for a while, as it is only a couple of hours away by train.
Although most of the sights can be seen in a couple of days, the nightlife is great and would take at least a week to experience properly.
A good place to visit would be the Old Aberdeen University Campus which I think beats Oxford for beautiful campus's.
It also has the best University Union in Britain which is free with any NUS or ISIC card.
