Scottish money is legal tender in england and wales. However, the spottier cashiers may not have heard of it. I'd particularly recommend getting rid of scottish pound notes before going to England or Wales, if you want to avoid argument!

Wonderful page with some very interesting info! I know that they love butter there now and I just realized that they didn't get Euro. Scottish money??? Never heard of it. Thanks for sharing.

(Dec, 2003) Scottish notes were accepted in York, it was no problem. Maybe North England is more tolerant? BUt I still don't understand why English don't want to accept Scottish money. Bank of Scotland/Royal Bank of S are really big banks, though.

I enjoyed your page about Edinburgh! Did you also have a "dram" (scottish world for drink) there? Nice pictures too.
