Nīmes sits at the gates of Camargue, in the Languedoc, but it already "smells" of Provence and keeps memories and essences of the ancient Rome and Spain.
For the Roman it was a French Rome, for the Spanish a Gallic Seville.
It sits among 7 hills in the Mediterranean scrub, full of cicadas which is one of the symbles of Provence together with lavender and sunflowers.
This clever, enterprising man was at the top of the hill at the base of the Tour Magne, one of the historic sites of Nīmes, and after getting up there I did't mind the price he asked me for a glass of cold orange juice, and the price included a nice chat with him!
Maybe I should have put this pic under tourist trap and not as the opening pic but this man was really nice to me... and then the whole trip was fairly unusual...
