The small and picturesque village of Trigrad is situated in the Western Rhodope Mountains almost at the edge of border between Bulgaria and Greece. The nearest towns around are Devin – 26 km to the south and Smolyan – 40 km to the west.

The road to the village is quite narrow and follows the Trigrad River for several kilometers before go through the breathtaking Trigrad Gorge. The Gorge is a phenomenal natural karst formation with 250- meters high walls on both sides of the road. In the beginning, the distance between the two walls is about 300 m, but reaches about 100 m in the north.

Apart from the Gorge, the Trigrad region is home of about 150 caves. However, only two of them, the Devil’s Throat and Yagodinska caves, are open for ordinary tourists, and if you enjoy trilling adventures you should visit the Haramiiska cave.

The Muslim and Christian culture and traditions go hand in hand in the village. So, it is not surprising that you can see a Christian church and a Muslim mosque build side by side.

Trigrad for me, it is a motorcycle trip in the 90', a village in the mountains, and lots of small road ; already old style Bulgaria.
