For a long time I’ve been interested in Egypt. Reading about it in schoolbooks and seeing documentaries Egypt caught my attention. Maybe if I bought some books it would satisfy my ‘hunger’. I bought books, surged on the internet, watched more documentaries, by doing this I learned a lot more about Egypt and instead satisfying my hunger it became worse. I read books about the ancient pharaoh’s, temples, gods, religion and mummification, I realised it was a fact. I was an Egypt nutcase. Ancient Egypt impressed me by the richness this country had. Imagine that, when in Europe, we were still running around in our tiger coats, while in Egypt a fruitful and grand nation was thriving with it’s own and unique culture, believes and other unique things. Egypt of today inherited a lot of beauty, where they should be proud off. Since the pharaonic times a lot has happened to Egypt and the people today are left with the ruin’s of more than 100 temples, pyramids, mummies, statues, hieroglyphs ect. ect. It became only worse, after every Discovery© documentary I was thinking: ”I want to see it myself”, walk trough those temples myself and maybe smell the flowers or other scents who once where used there. There was only one way to realise my dream and that was to visit it and check it out myself. After a lot of “how, when, where” my dream became true, I went to Egypt. On December 27th 2002, I flew with Egypt Air® to Caïro. And I had a hell of a good time.
This page gives an impression of my impression of Egypt. On the city pages (Cairo, Pyramids of Giza, Abu Simbel ect.) is a more detailed impression and information. My travelogue of Egypt can be found on this page. |
