Taking Pictures of people

I found out while taking this picture that if you chose to take pictures of people you should ask first. I thought that it would be interesting to take a picture of the Egyptians irrigating their fields. This fellow made me take pay him a couple of Egyptian pounds for doing so. He was quick too, so that we would not drive off without paying him. I do not know why my guide did not mention this.

Egyptians, in particular taxi drivers, are apt to ask you all kinds of personal questions that we Westerners are likely to keep private. This means that they will ask you questions about your faith, family life and politics. Try not to be offended by this. They love conversation of any kind but just remember that sometimes the way you feel about certain issues my prove shocking in this very conservative society.
