I began my trip to Egypt with a most arduous seven hour bus trip across the Sinai Peninsula. All along the way I was wondering what I had gotten myself into. However no sooner than the next day when I visited the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities than did I realize how that insane journey was justified. For the solo traveler Egypt can be at times a difficult country to tour. However ultimately despite any problems that might occure I think that Egypt will prove to be a most rewarding country to visit.
- Pros:The fantastic monuments.
- Cons:The hawkers constantly trying to get you to buy their goods.
- In a nutshell:Where the history of the civilization begins

This "blew me away", Paul..the best on VT as far as I'm concerned. Interesting and so informative. Thanks for this extraordinary virtual trip.
Great tip re Memphis. I was curious as to whether Egypt's original administrative capital had anything tangible to offer.
